Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
San Diego Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Patients who join our IOP receive therapy at least three days per week for a minimum of 3 hours per day. Our IOP is structured similarly to our PHP but is less intensive and focuses more on helping you integrate back into your ordinary life in a healthy way.
During your time in an IOP, you will work on finalizing aftercare plans and learn how to embrace a new, healthier, sober lifestyle.
Getting Addiction Help in San Diego
Addiction is a disease that can start out with casual use and escalate quickly to a life threatening problem. Before this happens, one should know there is help. Outpatient treatment is available. To understand how addiction progresses take a look at these images provided by addictioneducationsociety.org.
The first step is a person simply likes the feeling they have when taking their drug of choice. Secondly, they begin to want the drug. They like the feeling therefore they want to feel it again. Then their is a need for a drug. A person then begins to need the drug in order to enjoy whatever event or party they are participating in. Lastly, the drug becomes a requirement. Without it, they are unable to function in any setting.
This escalation can happen quickly. Drugs and alcohol have euphoric effects that can be felt immediately. It is a sense of immediate satisfaction and release. The brain will continue to tell the body they require this drug and/or alcohol. Changes in the brain happen rapidly. To combat this effect, one needs to obtain help.
Is Outpatient Treatment Right for Me?
There are options for treatment available to all addicts. Trying to decide what is right for you doesn’t have to be difficult. Outpatient treatment is just one of the options available and to decide if it is the right treatment for you is important.
Treatment in an intensive outpatient program is possible. According to startyourrecovery.org, there are a few things to consider when deciding if outpatient treatment is right for you. The pros of outpatient treatment are as follows.
- Continue to live at home.
- Lower Cost
- Continue to hold a job.
- Convenient appointments in evenings and/or weekend.
- Stay in school.
- Daily treatment available.
The task of receiving treatment can seem life-altering. It doesn’t have to be. There is hope. One can receive treatment and continue to live a productive life by working or attending school. If the cost is an issue, outpatient care can be affordable. Daily treatments such as therapy, group or individual, are available to the one receiving outpatient care.
Don’t believe there is no hope for you because they are things in your life that cannot be disrupted in order to receive treatment. Outpatient treatment can be very effective for individuals struggling with addiction.
Levels Of Care
Getting Outpatient Treatment in San Diego
Outpatient care can be successful for someone looking to start a new life who are unable to receive intensive inpatient care. Outpatient care has benefits that are appealing to the person who have abused drugs on a smaller scale. This enables them to undergo detox with little to no medical supervision.
Outpatient care enables a person to continue living their “normal” life with little interruptions. An outpatient treatment plan gives patients the ability to continue holding down a job or attending school. Plans will need to be minimally made for people with children. Deciding what to pack is not a decision needing to be made.
Oftentimes, disruption to one’s life can lead to further use of drugs and/or alcohol. The stress of all the decisions can create tensions and unnecessary difficulties. Frustration can be a trigger for needing another high and possibly lead to a change of mind for receiving help.
Outpatient treatment is still comprised of therapies and the expertise of professionals in the field of addiction. Therapies and coping skills are given to help users lead a healthy life without the use of drugs or alcohol to function.
